The Center for Perioperative Organ Protection (CPOP) is a collaborative group of physicians and scientistsĀ at Duke Anesthesiology whose goal isĀ to improveĀ the standard of perioperative careĀ during clinical interventions and critical illness. We strive to study the molecular, cellular and organ system interactions during acute injury and recovery in the perioperative period across the aging spectrum. We use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, including pre-clinical, translational and epidemiological research to improve the treatment of our patients. Our mission is to develop innovative therapies to improve organ protection and patient outcomes throughout the perioperative period, clinical interventions and critical illness.
